A strange phenomena is breaking out across the UK as children's writers and illustrators everywhere are donning beards in support of Mr Philip Ardagh, author of many small books for children. Banned from facebook for 'abusive behavior', " I only wished Celia Rees a Happy Birthday" claimed Mr Ardagh, 48. Friends and fans missed hit sly witty comments so much that a 'page' was made to start a campaign for his return.

However, for some it would seem that the beard donning has gone too far. Appearing on Radio Treleddyd this morning a rather shaken Jackie Morris related her nightmare story.

"I don't know how it happened", said Jackie. "I woke up, fed the cats as I usually do and was making coffee when I realised that I had rather an excess of facial hair! I knew someone had started this campaign for Phil. I made some kind of half hearted attempt to join in by using an old necklace I had. To be honest I was never that sure about Phil Ardagh. He did write a rather nice little book bout cats once, but all I could think at the time was didn't these people have enough work to do? Couldn't really understand what all the fuss was about. And now this!"

It would seem that in the night Ms Morris had grown the most enormous beard.

"I feel like Mr Twit," said Jackie." This is too much. He is going to think I did it on purpose just to show my support. How am I going to go out in public? What will the kids say? He never liked me much because I can draw and write nd my books are bigger than his."

Jackie is seeking a doctor's advice this morning and the campaign to set free the voice of Mr Ardagh continues and you can find out more about it here. You can show your support by donning your own beard. Ms Morris already has several birds taking up residence in her beard.
